High Resolution Tamriel map (Elder Scrolls series) by Belhene High Resolution Tamriel map (Elder Scrolls series) by Belhene
This is a -very- high resolution map of Tamriel from the Elder Scrolls game series. I made it with Adobe Photoshop CS5.

I priorized aesthetics over detailed information, so I left out rivers, small villages, and mountains' and forests' names (it was meant to be hung on my bedroom wall as a big nice map, and definitely not to be used as a source of information while playing the games).

The text included is the foreword [link] of the fictional book "Pocket Guide to the Empire, Third Edition", from the games. This map is supposed to be part of the book and as such, it is signed by the organization which wrote the book (the Imperial Geographic Society). The date is the (fictional) date when the book was published. (Nerd much?)
Please tell me if you spot any mistakes in this text. Although I copied it from the wiki, I may have deleted a character by mistake, since the font behaved kind of glitchy sometimes.

I used the original map [link] as a base layer to redraw borders, mountains and forests. Everything that was in the original map was redrawn pixel by pixel. I could've done mountains and forests differently, but I wanted to preserve the style, so those things look the same, only in much, much higher resolution. Oh, and the font used for labels and the map title is the original.

I added data which wasn't included in the original map, such as oceans, seas and small islands that were not labeled. There were also some islands who didn't even appear in the original map, so I drew them from scratch.

I replaced those dull city dots with a nice town icon from this awesome set [link] by StarRaven.

I hope you like it!

1. Bethesda

The Elder Scrolls Universe, all its locations and names belong to Bethesda. The text also belongs to Bethesda (as I explained above, it is part of the in-game book "Pocket Guide to the Empire, Third Edition").

Commercial use of this piece is ILLEGAL. You MAY NOT sell this as your own piece of artwork or make money off it in ANY WAY.

This map is fanart, and it was made to be printed as a PERSONAL print (I made it to hang on my bedroom wall). I CANNOT sell this, NOBODY can.

2. Artist (me)

I shared this so that other enthusiastic Elder Scrolls fans could get their own personal prints of a nice Tamriel map in high resolution as I did.

Even though Bethesda owns the series, names, etc., I DID NOT share this so that you can slightly modify it and upload it to DeviantArt or wherever as if it were an original piece of work of yours.

If you want to edit it for whatever reason for a private personal print, just don't upload the edited version as if it were something new you made. I don't consider my map to be GREAT, but it is something *I* made and I enjoyed making. It took a lot of work, time and effort, as you can imagine. This is the only case in which deleting my signature without me getting really pissed is allowed (a personal print).

If you see this somewhere else claimed by someone else as their own, please, notify me by PM. I will mention it in here if I upload this to another site (and if I do it, it will probably be under the name "Belhene", "Sophia" or "SophiaBP"). It is currently only here in DeviantArt. I would really hate having to take it down and ruining it for the people who do things right just because of the few disrespectful ones who can't be original and make their own artwork.

I hope you understand.

Of course, you are very welcome to feature it in DeviantArt groups, a blog, a wiki, or whatever as long as you clearly state that *I* made it (with a link back here or my DeviantArt profile). And please let me know you uploaded it and where to. I want to know where my artwork is!
Needless to say, in this allowed kind of uploading outside DeviantArt, my signature obviously needs to remain where it is, and you may not modify anything.

One question was the test done in a font or by hand?

oh, oops, never mind about sales, just read the TOS again. What size did you print this as? Looking at pixel conversion leads me to roughly 24in x 15in at 300dpi. Does that sound right?

You've done a great job of putting this all together! :D I'd really love to use it for my blog on Tumblr ( and I will credit you in my post! I am going to draw over it but only to mark locations on the map.
